abstract = "Nowadays, with the cheapness and the reliability of unmanned
aerial vehicles (ARPs or drones) the use of small sensors has been
gaining space. With this, high-resolution commercial digital
cameras are being used to obtain images in remote sensing.
However, to use this data quantitatively it is necessary that
these sensors be known. Therefore, the objective of this work was
to propose a methodology to characterize, spectral and
radiometric, commercial digital cameras that operate in the
visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Thus, in the
Spectral Characterization the camera sensitivity is determined for
each wavelength of the incident electromagnetic radiation. In the
Radiometric Characterization, a relation is established between
the digital numbers obtained in an image, when the camera is
illuminated by a source of electromagnetic radiation whose
radiance is known. To test the proposed methodology the
characterizations were performed for a Canon camera. For this, the
facilities of the LaRaC, of the IEAv, were used. The spectral
characterization was performed by the indirect method using a
monochromator, a reference sensor with spectral response function
calibrated. In the radiometric characterization, the relationship
between radiance and digital numbers of the camera was evaluated
using an integrating sphere and a spectroradiometer. The results
obtained for the spectral characterization are consistent with the
expected. The radiometric characterization showed that the
behavior of the radiance as a function of digital number does not
have a linear behavior.",
